Laurie Hayward
CEO

Laurie Hayward has been CEO of Screen East since December 2001.

He is responsible for the strategic leadership and direction of Screen East reporting to the Board.

Laurie liases closely with EEDA to support its Creative Industries Strategy through the Creative Industries Strategy Group. He works closely with The Government Office of the East of England to identify significant sources of public funding to support development and growth of the media industry in the region.

Laurie was previously director of The Media Development Agency for the West Midlands (Birmingham based), prior to which he worked in both the film exhibition sector and the distribution of lottery finance.

Key achievements in his career have been the establishment of the Creative Advantage Venture Capital Fund, the first of its type in the UK and the Screen East Content Investment Fund.

Christine Woods joined Screen East in March 2009 as PA to the CEO and is based at the Norwich office.

David Wilkinson
Head of Business and Projects Manager

    - Developing and contributing to Screen East’s strategic objectives

          - Client and stakeholder liaison and advice

          - Strategic events planning and co-ordination

          The role of Head of Business is very much about contributing into Screen East’s medium to longer term strategies and then delivering those objectives around the principles of best practice and best value for money. The role involves managing a £multi-million content investment portfolio and other North Sea Region European initiatives. Ensuring the effective stewardship of public funding is central to the role of Head of Business.

          Sam Burton

                  Sam is our Talent Executive working with new, emerging and experienced talent across a range of areas and projects. She manages and is the Executive Producer for our Digital Shorts scheme, enabling talent to make high quality shorts with professional guidance. Sam is the first point of contact for any enquiries in the production department, from script reading, to funding, to advice on careers and getting your film seen.

                  Anne Williamson
                  Beyond 2010 Consultant

                          Anne has worked freelance on a number of projects for Screen East since 2005. Anne manages the Creative Sector and the Sustainable Communities and Built Environment Sector of the ESF/EEDA programme Beyond 2010 which supports small and medium sized businesses in the East of England with grants for training. Anne is responsible for liaising with the regional Beyond 2010 team, business support organisations and training providers. Anne works closely with businesses to assess their eligibility for grant support and help them make successful applications. Anne monitors budgets of the two sectors, maintains statistical data and produces reports and case studies for the Beyond 2010 programme

                          Jane Jarvis
                          Digital Heritage Project Manager

                                Jane Jarvis joined Screen East in May 2009 as Digital Heritage Project Manager. Digital Heritage is an exciting new cross channel initiative focused on making more archive film more available, watchable and accessible to a wider audience. Screen East is working closely with the East Anglian Film Archive and partnering a screen agency based in Rouen,– Pole Image Haute-Normandie. Working with their valuable, extensive archives the project will explore, compare and contrast the history, culture and identity of both Norfolk, Suffolk, Essex, Cambridgeshire and Upper Normandy as linked to their screen heritage. Jane benefits from years of experience in TV production working with archive films and speaking french.

                                Melvin Welton
                                Finance Manager

                                Responsible for all of Screen East’s financial functions and procedures.


                                As well as the the day to day provision of financial operations, supporting each department and the CEO, Melvin manages the distribution of Screen East’s venture capital funds / Lottery grants and oversees the monitoring and performance function.

                                Michael Lavery
                                Funding & Performance Officer

                                - Provides comprehensive support for the delivery of Screen East's funding streams
                                - Response service to all application enquiries
                                - Maintains and updates the GIFT's investment management system database and related software


                                Mike is the first point of contact for funding enquiries and applications. He provides application administration support, organises investment decision meetings and coordinates the formal reporting of statistics. Mike ensures that all information is relevant to the investment application process working with Heads of Departments to report to the Board and all funders on the outcomes of our Lottery and investment strategy. He also provides a system of KPI monitoring across all Screen East departments.

                                Kerry Ixer

                                        Kerry joined Screen East in 2005 as Head of Locations and Inward Investment and heads the Locations Department at Screen East’s Leavesden office, managing a team of three. Kerry is responsible for attracting inward investment to the region and promoting the East of England to production companies and studios, both domestically and internationally. Kerry also manages the relationships with our local authority filming contacts to help them in their efforts to maximise filming activity in their respective areas to the mutual benefit of the filming industry and the local economy.

                                        Hayley Armstrong

                                              Hayley joined Screen East in 2000 and is our Information and Office Manager based at the Leavesden Office. Hayley is responsible for the marketing of our Crew and Facility database and deals with enquiries from productions looking for specific skills or services in the Region. Hayley prepares reports for the location department and tracks filming activity in the Region. Hayley also co-ordinates the marketing and promotion of the Location Department’s activities through press releases, Location’s ezines and our website.

                                                      Becky joined Screen East in 2007 with a background in Film and TV. Becky is our Film Liaison Officer based at the Leavesden Office, and is responsible for handling the majority of location enquiries received daily strictly adhering to our 24 hour response time. Becky acts as a key liaison with local authorities, highways and police traffic management contacts to enable productions to enjoy a trouble free shoot. Given Becky’s extensive knowledge of the region she is able to offer advice on potential areas to recce and is responsible for co-ordinating familiarisation visits to the region.

                                                            Nicola joined Screen East in 2009 as Locations Support Assistant based at the Leavesden Office. Nicola is responsible for our Location Library and is the first point of contact for Location Owners wanting to register or update their details. Nicola not only ensures that our Location Library stays up-to-date but also identifies new and interesting additions for the library. Nicola is responsible for responding to location enquiries in Becky’s absence.
